ABOUT MATT

Matt is the director of the Center for Formation, a pastor and a spiritual director who received training in spiritual direction from the Dominican Center in Grand Rapids, MI as well as from his own spiritual director, Dave Nixon of Sustainable Faith. Matt comes with over 20 years of experience as a pastor serving as Lead Pastor at BayMarin Community Church in San Rafael, CA, Spiritual Formation Pastor at Mars Hill in Grandville, MI and as a hospice chaplain in Sonoma county. Matt received his BA with a double major in English Literature and Religion and his Master’s degree in Religion from Cornerstone University where he also served as adjunct faculty for 11 years. He has completed his doctoral course work in spiritual formation at George Fox University. Matt lives in Hidden Valley Lake, CA with his family where he serves as a spiritual director, pastor and a leader of formational experiences in Lake, Marin and Sonoma counties as well as online. Matt enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the natural world and cultivating the small plot of good earth they call home.
